Mike Garrett, Sr. - Director of Housing

Retirement is not a word in Mike Garrett, Sr.’s vocabulary.  After serving as an AT&T employee for over 30 years in positions of increasing responsibility, culminating as Director of the Ameritech Distribution Center, Mike began a second career in the not-for-profit sector. Mike has had the honor of serving in positions of leadership with United Way, St. Joe County, IN Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement, Purdue University, and Sheltering Wings.  He has also worked and consulted in a number of small business enterprises.  During this period, Mike has served on the Board of Directors of many organizations including Martin Center University, Mental Health Assn of Morris County NJ, The Children’s Bureau, Boy Scouts of America, and Project Future for St Joe County, IN. Mike has also served for many years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate.

The Garrett family moved many times during Mike’s career but chose Zionsville as their “put down forever roots” community.  During their first years in Zionsville, Mike and his wife, Sally, created a high school youth group known as “Support Through Friendship”. Their home was open 24 hours a day for young people in need.  Some of the programs they began with “Support Through Friendship” still continue today. Mike and Sally have always enjoyed helping young people.

Mike has worked with his son, Mike Jr, on numerous sports related activities and tournaments.  The Indy Crossroads Championships has become their main focus. Mike Sr. is the housing and sponsorship director.

Mike received his BBA from The University of Notre Dame and his MS in Management from Pace University in New York.  He is married to his high school sweetheart Sally. They have four children and are immensely enjoying their 14 entertaining grandchildren.
